Police arrest 2 on unrelated charges

— Athens Police arrested Brandon Keith Adams, 28, of Piney Chapel Road after a brief foot chase that ended near Marion Street and 4th Avenue Sunday night after he was suspected of breaking into a car.

Sgt. Dusty Meadows and Sgt. Katrina Flanagan were searching for a suspect who had been spotted attempting to break into a vehicle. When they spotted a man matching the description given by a witness, he fled. Meadows and Flanagan were able to catch and detain Brandon Adams. He was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, public intoxication, attempting to elude a police officer, and tampering with physical evidence.

Adams was booked in at Athens Police Department then taken to Limestone County Jail.

Meanwhile, on early Monday police arrested Harrison Saxon, 40, charging him with being fugitive from justice on a theft of property warrant from Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Saxon, who gave his address as 112 Gordon Drive in Athens, was booked at Athens Police Department then placed in the Limestone County Jail awaiting extradition proceedings.
