Redstone announces lane closure near Gate 9

— The outside lane of outbound traffic on Rideout Road (the far right lane) will be temporarily closed beginning July 14 and could remain closed for up to two weeks, according to a Redstone Arsenal press release.

Construction will begin on the deceleration and acceleration lanes for the new Goss Road Realignment intersection. The construction zone is approximately a half-mile south of Gate 9 on Rideout Road.

The speed limit will be reduced to 35 mph in the construction zone.

“We can expect unannounced, intermittent closure of the outside lane as construction progresses,” said Christopher Colster, Redstone Arsenal spokesman. “Drivers may want to use an alternate route during peak travel times.”

The existing median crossover will occasionally be closed to U-turn maneuvers, particularly during the afternoon period between 3 to 6 p.m.  The crossover will remain open during the period between 6 to 9 a.m.

Southbound traffic will be directed to detour south to the next median crossover or continue to Homestead Road during periods the U-turn is closed.
