— In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, Limestone County and Athens City administrative offices will close Thursday and Friday. State offices will also be closed.

Officials said police and fire protection would continue as usual.

Both county and city schools are also observing Thanksgiving break and will be out of school today through Friday.

Officials said there would be no change in Limestone County garbage collection during the holiday. However, residents are encouraged to put garbage on the curb the night before. Collection will run early Thursday morning.

There will be no Athens City garbage pickup Thanksgiving Day. Instead, Thursday garbage will be picked up on Friday and Friday garbage will be picked up on Saturday.

Most banks and other government offices such as the U.S. Postal Service are set to reopen Friday.
