— An Athens business was searched Friday afternoon after complaints of illegal gambling were reported to the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Mike Blakely said his office executed a search warrant at Jabo’s Automotives, an Athens business located on U.S. 72.

“We had reason for a search warrant because we had received complaints that in the back (of the store) they had some of those illegal poker machines,” Blakely said. “People we’re going in and gambling on quite a few machines.”

He said the business owner is Monroe Jefferson Kyle Jr., 55, of Browns Ferry Road. Kyle is charged with promoting gambling.

“We put out a search warrant and confirmed eight illegal video machines. One of the individuals playing the machines was arrested for playing the machines and for marijuana possession.”

John David Matthew Williams, 38, of Carter’s Trailer Park Lot 15, Athens, has been charged with second-degree marijuana possession.
