Official: Right place, right time leads to drug arrest

— Two Athens residents were at the wrong place at the wrong time Tuesday night, leading to their arrests on drug charges, an official said.

Limestone County sheriff’s narcotics investigator Justin Flanagan and deputy Nick Evans had pulled into the Dollar General parking lot at the intersection of Capshaw and East Limestone roads and were observing traffic.

About 5:55 p.m., a female motorist pulled into the lot and parked beside the officers, said Chief Investigator Capt. Stanley McNatt.

A few minutes later, a male motorist pulled into the lot, exited his vehicle and got into the female’s vehicle, he said.

“As that time, the officers observed the male hand the female some pills and detained both individuals,” McNatt said.

After determining the pills in question were oxycodone, which the two possessed illegally, the two officers detained them, he said.

“They (the officers) just happened to be at the right place at the right time,” McNatt said.

Arrested were:

• Charles Timothy Baucom, 51, of 13690 Mooresville Road, for distribution of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance; released from Limestone County Jail after posting bail of $15,000;

• Suzanne Maxye Baucom, 49, of 27435 Thomas Edward Drive, for possession of a controlled substance; released from county jail after posting bail of $5,000.
