ATHENS — A Huntsville woman has been charged with cashing a $492 check at Hometown Grocery in Athens late last year, an official said Friday.

Sequawah Beunka Wiggins, 25, of 702 10th St., has been charged with second-degree possession of a forged instrument in connection with the alleged crime, Police Chief Floyd Johnson said.

Athens Police Investigator Tim McIntire had obtained a warrant for Wiggins’ arrest on Oct. 9, 2013, and she was arrested Thursday on the charge in Madison County, Johnson said.

Wiggins was booked at the Athens Police Department and transferred to the Limestone County Jail, where she was released after posting bail of $2,500, records show.
