Decatur teen dies after predawn shooting; police investigating

DECATUR — A Decatur High School student shot in the head early Monday in Decatur died in critical condition at Huntsville Hospital.

Kedrick Bowman, 17, was shot at a home at 3110 Cotton Place in southwest Decatur, according to a preliminary report filed by Decatur Police Detective Michael Burleson.

Someone telephoned Morgan County 911 at 12:15 a.m. to report the shooting.


Bowman was taken to Decatur-Morgan Hospital in critical condition. He died after being transferred to Huntsville Hospital.

Units from the Decatur Police Department’s Patrol Division, Decatur Fire and Rescue and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene.

The violent crimes unit is investigating but has made no arrests.
