County, city schools to delay 2 hours Friday

— Limestone County Schools and Athens City Schools have announced a two-hour delay tomorrow due to wintry weather.

The later start is due to “sub-zero wind temperatures and the inability of buses to start” in freezing temps, said county school spokeswoman Karen Tucker in an automated message sent to parents this  morning.

City school officials announced their decision this afternoon to allow time to receive more up-to-date weather information. All city schools will open two hours later, according to city schools spokesman Terry Roller.
