UPDATE: City, county schools closed for 3rd straight day

— Athens City Schools and Limestone County Schools announced this evening that all schools will be closed Thursday.

County schools spokeswoman Karen Tucker said the decision to cancel classes is due to hazardous road conditions and inclement weather.

City schools spokesman Terry Roller said the city's decision was based on the forecast for "extreme weather."

Tomorrow will be the third straight day for the closure of all city and county schools.
