2 drug arrests net 3 people

— Athens Police arrested three people on drug charges during two separate busts Wednesday.

Two Athens residents — L.J. Austin III, 21, of 24573 McClung Lane, and Khllaia Shanese Williams, 21, of 405 Vine St. — were arrested about 2 p.m. on charges of possession of a controlled substance, second-degree possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and third-degree theft, records show. They were transferred to the Limestone County Jail, where bail is set at $8,000 each, records show.

Separate arrest

In another arrest, about 7:30 p.m., police arrested James Shannon Harrison, 41, of 705 Sanders St., Athens, on a charge of possession of a controlled substance, records show. He was transferred to the Limestone County Jail, where bail is set at $5,000 on the felony charge, records show.

All three arrests followed traffic stops, said Chief Floyd Johnson.
