An Elkmont man who allegedly threatened to retrieve a shotgun and blow off the head of a deputy sheriff was arrested Wednesday following a scuffle, an official said.
David Paul Walker, 58, of 28605 Ragsdale Creek Road, was arrested on charges of resisting arrest and menacing. He remained in the Limestone County Jail, with bail set at $2,000, records show.
The man’s wife had called deputies Wednesday after noon to the home because they were having marital problems. She wanted law-enforcement presence in order to safely remove some her property from the home, said Capt. Stanley McNatt, chief investigator for the Limestone County Sheriff’s Department.
“While they were there, Walker became agitated and violent and charged at one of the deputies — Deputy Rhett McNatt, he said. Walker bumped into the deputy’s chest and then threatened to go get a shotgun and blow his head off. He (Walker) then went into the bedroom trying to retrieve a shotgun when a scuffle ensued and deputies McNatt and Donnie Johns arrested him.
