— A granddaughter accused of stealing $11,000 from her Limestone County grandmother allegedly used the money to pay for a hotel suite and movies for her boyfriend, clothing for herself and to retire a few bills, Sheriff Mike Blakely said.

A Sheriff’s investigator arrested Marvina Del Jane Austin, 18, of 205 S. Sixth St., Pulaski, Tenn., Tuesday on a charge of first-degree theft by deception, records show.

“She got her grandmother to write two checks for her,” Blakely said. “She bought videos for her boyfriend, a hotel suite in Florence for her boyfriend, paid some bills and bought some clothes.”

The theft occurred in May, and was reported by a family member who discovered it, the sheriff said.

Austin was released from the Limestone County Jail Tuesday after posting a $5,000 bail on the felony charge, records show.
