City swimming pool open Saturdays only

With schools in Athens planning to open Monday, the youths who served as lifeguards all summer at the Athens city pool will head back to classes. That means a change in pool hours, officials said Wednesday.

The pool is now closed during the week but will remain open Saturdays through Aug. 31 when lifeguards are out of school for the weekend.

Pool officials said they have been receiving calls from parents and youths about end-of-season pool hours.
