Trinity man arrested in church burglaries, other suspects sought

— A 19-year-old Trinity man has been charged with three counts of burglary in connection with three recent church burglaries in Decatur and Morgan County. More arrests are expected by Decatur and Trinity police and the Limestone County Sheriff's Department.

Jacob Ryan Pigman of 1555 Old Highway 24 was arrested Friday on three counts of third-degree burglary, following a joint investigation by Decatur and Trinity police departments and the Limestone County Sheriff's Department. Decatur Police Detective Michael Glenzer made the arrest. Pigman will be transferred to the Morgan County Jail. Bail has not yet be set.

"There are other suspects still at large, and officers from multiple agencies are attempting to locate them," Decatur Police Sgt. George Silvestri said.

Pigman was charged Friday in connection with the Dec. 17 burglaries at the following churches in Decatur and Morgan County: Fairview Baptist Church and St Andrews Presbyterian Church, both on Danville Road, and Cedar Ridge Baptist Church on Modaus Road.

Trinity police received a report of a church burglary on Dec. 22., and a video-surveillance camera captured an image of the suspect. That photograph was disemminated Friday to media outlets in Morgan and Limestone counties, and police quickly had a suspect. Decatur police questioned him last night before arresting him.

Limestone County Sheriff Mike Blakely said the suspect in the Trinity case may be linked to three church burglaries in Limestone County, including one that occurred on Christmas Eve at Round Island Baptist Church. A $1,000 reward has been posted for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for that burglary.
