Athens Fire and Rescue Chief Tony Kirk said this afternoon that firefighters will set up temporary quarters for Station No. 1 on Limestone County EMA's property at the corner of Hine and Market streets, a short distance from the firehouse.
Kirk said there are sleeping quarters for the firefighters and room for the fire trucks to be parked at the EMA.
Clean-up at Station No. 1 continued today after the sprinkler system burst and flooded the station Tuesday morning around 3, damaging walls, the ceiling, furniture and equipment such as computers.
The city has not yet received a cost estimate on the damage. Work to repair damage could take at least 60 days, Kirk said.
