Former Alabama Air Guard leader now at Pentagon

— MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — A former leader in the Alabama Air National Guard is moving to an office in the Pentagon.

Lt. Gen. Stanley E. Clarke has been named director of the Air National Guard and will take over the job in Washington later this month.

The Montgomery Advertiser ( ) reports that Clarke served in Montgomery from 1991 to 2006, including being commander of the 187th Fighter Wing at Dannelly Field from October 2002 to December 2005 and assistant adjutant general for the Alabama Air National Guard headquarters from December 2005 to June 2006.

He was the commander of the Continental U.S. North American Aerospace Defense Command Region_1st Air Force at Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida before getting the Pentagon assignment.
