Huntsville man charged with forgery

— A Huntsville man is facing charges of second-degree forgery after cashing a forged check at a local grocery store, according to Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson.

The warrant was obtained by Investigator Jonathan Caldwell after Joshua Ray Adkins, 36, who gave his address as Room 226 of the Red Carpet Inn off U.S. 72 in Huntsville, cashed a forged check at Hometown Grocery on South Jefferson Street.

The offense occurred in September 2013, Johnson said.

“Caldwell obtained the warrant in November 2013, but has been unable to locate Adkins,” said Johnson.

Adkins was booked at the police department and transferred to the Limestone County Jail, where he is being held in lieu of $2,500 bail.
