Moyers hearing rescheduled for March 25

— A hearing for motions in the Joel Moyers case, originally scheduled for March 25, has now been continued because of spring break and Moyers’ attorneys being out of town, according to District Attorney Brian Jones.

Limestone County Judge James Woodruff continued a hearing in the capital murder case regarding a motion to quash Tuesday.

A motion to quash is a request to a court to render a previous decision of the court null or invalid.  Moyers’ defense team filed the initial motion under seal.

Moyers told lawmen that on the night of the shooting of Brandon Hydrick that he fired a warning shot into the air at a truck in which Hydrick was a passenger and did not intend to kill him.

Hydrick was with his brother Ryan, 24, and the two were driving along rural roads at about 3 a.m. following a family cookout.
