— A burglary suspect who was shot after trying to run over two Limestone County deputies following a high-speed chase may never see the inside of a courtroom.

Arrest warrants have never been issued for Dexter Lee Fair, 21, of 158 McKee Road, Harvest, court records show.

Fair remained in Huntsville Hospital for more than a month after he was shot by two Limestone deputies, Jan. 31, in Madison County. Sheriff Mike Blakely said Fair was released from the hospital and transferred to a rehabilitation facility in Tennessee, where he still remains.

Blakely said Fair is paralyzed from the neck down and is on a ventilator.

Although Fair was facing charges of attempted murder and burglary, and possibly others relating to the high-speed chase, he has never been charged, possibly due to his condition. Madison County Assistant District Attorney Randy Dill could not be reached for comment Wednesday afternoon on the status of the case.
