Gary Sinise Jacksonville concert to benefit injured vet

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Promoters of Sunday's concert in Jacksonville by actor Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band say that that an anonymous donor has pledged to match proceeds from ticket sales up to $50,000 to raise money for injured Marine Sgt. Ben Tomlinson of Jacksonville, who was injured in Afghanistan.

Sinise played Lt. Dan in the 1994 movie Forrest Gump that starred Tom Hanks in the title role.

The concert is scheduled for 6 p.m. Sunday at JSU Stadium.

Proceeds from the concert will go toward building a "smart home" for Tomlinson in Jacksonville. The home would allow the owner to control certain functions inside the house with an iPad. Functions that could be controlled include lights, security and even lowering cabinets to wheelchair level.
