Hutchins said he is concerned about “the present state of our nation, the ever-growing debt and the continuing encroachment of government upon the liberties of the people.”
Fixing these problems, he said, requires a “principled approach” that begins “with a solid understanding of the limited role of government.”
He said he supports Alabama Constitution, Article 1, section 35, which reads: “The sole object and only legitimate end of government is to protect the citizen in the enjoyment of life, liberty, and property, and when the government assumes other functions it is usurpation and oppression.”
Hutchins believes communicating with and being accountable to his constituents is a key element in the role of county commissioner.
“One of the most rewarding things about this campaign has been the opportunity for me and my family to get to know more of my future constituents,” he said. “I seek and welcome their input and concerns.”
