ATHENS — Four new weather sirens will be tested for the first time Monday by the Limestone County Emergency Management Agency.

The EMA now has 27 warning sirens that are tested on the second Monday of each month. The sirens will sound at 9:15 a.m., and the test is expected to finish within 3 minutes, agency officials said.

The new sirens have been installed at the intersections of East Limestone and Copeland roads and Mooresville and Newby roads; the South Limestone Volunteer Fire Department in Belle Mina; and Carriger Church of Christ on Stinnett Hollow Road.

The Tennessee Valley Authority also has 47 warning sirens, bringing the total for the county to 74.
