BREAKING: Area schools delayed; NWS extends winter weather advisory

— The threat of icy road conditions has led to delays for some area schools this morning.

- Athens Bible School will open at 10 a.m.

- Lindsay Lane Christian Academy is delayed by two hours

- Limestone County Schools are delayed by two hours

The National Weather Service in Huntsville has extended a winter weather advisory for Limestone County through 6 a.m. Wednesday morning as freezing rain and ice accumulation will continue to be a threat.

The weather service says accumulations of up to one-quarter of an inch of ice will be possible on trees, power lines and elevated road surfaces. Ground conditions, however, are expected to remain above freezing.
