— PRICEVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Authorities say they expect a man to recover after jumping off the Tennessee River bridge on Interstate 65 in north Alabama.
State troopers say a man who was walking on the highway jumped from the northbound bridge Wednesday after being approached by a trooper.
Troopers say the man fell 20 to 30 feet and landed on dirt rather than in the water.
Officials say the man suffered only minor injuries in the fall, but he had to be removed by a helicopter ambulance because trucks and cars couldn't get to the area.
Authorities haven't released the man's name, and it's not known why he jumped.
Traffic came to a halt during the incident, but troopers reopened the interstate later.
