Boeing says much of the design work for a major overhaul of its 777 will be done outside of its main commercial airplane base in the Seattle area.
The plan laid out in a memo to Boeing workers today confirms suspicions that Boeing has been looking to move design work to engineers elsewhere.
The company says much of the design work will be done in Huntsville; Charleston, S.C.; Long Beach, Calif.; Philadelphia and St. Louis. Some work will also be done in Moscow.
Boeing's aerospace and defense engineers in Huntsville have also worked on the company's 787 Dreamliner.
