There are three road projects ongoing in Athens that will impact traffic. Here is an update from Street Department Manager Dolph Bradford.
Lindsay Lane: This is an ATRIP project that may begin next week, weather permitting. Bradford said the project involves upgrading the drainage before crews can start paving. City forces will begin at the intersection of Lindsay Lane and Huntsville-Browns Ferry Road. Unfortunately this area of Lindsay Lane will be completely closed down for workers to complete the drainage construction. Workers will have to close other areas of the road as work progresses.
"We ask for patience and safety from the public as we proceed," Bradford said. "We will do our best to reopen the road as fast as possible each time we have to close it."
Linton Road: Bradford said the project to widen and improve drainage on Linton Road continues with shoulder work and end treatment on culverts. Construction will continue for two to three more weeks.
Old Decatur Road: This project has been proceeding steadily. Bradford said back fill for the road to the bridge on the north side is underway. Construction will go on for several months.
