Preschool classrooms affiliated with the Community Action Partnership of North Alabama will start class Friday, Sept. 6.
Partnership, with its central office in Decatur, expanded its service area into Madison and Limestone counties during the summer. However, several of the areas to be served have classroom space that needs renovation or actual replacement, according to Kim Dodd, director of Children Services.
She said classroom supplies, playground equipment and other upgrades are being made as quickly as possible to enable children to attend safe and licensed classrooms.
In some locations children may be limited to a four-hour day until the Alabama Day Care Licensing Department completes their review of each of the 24 newly acquired classrooms.
Parents of students at each location will be notified to ensure the smoothest possible opening day for children, according to Dodd. Notices have been posted regarding classroom status and each family will be notified within seven days. The notices will include the child’s classroom location and their acceptance into the classroom.
According to Dodd, Partnership has hired and trained classroom and support staff that will engage in the delivery of quality services and intentional instruction for the 432 children who will be served in Madison and Limestone counties.
With the expansion the Partnership will operate one of the largest preschool programs in the state. The Partnership also serves 11 Early Head Start classrooms and 16 state of Alabama Pre K classrooms, for a total of 1,996 children from birth to 5 years old.
