— Athens Family Resource Center is a place to link with services and agencies to make life run smoother for young families.

Saturday, officials and workers with the AFRC will host its fourth annual free Family Fun Day and Health Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Swan Creek Park.

“This is a great opportunity for families to learn about resources to help them — tutoring, insurance, mental health — and the list goes on and on,” said Sarah Chadwell, director. “This is a day to celebrate the family with food, games, door prizes, medical screening and the MedFlight helicopter will also be there.”

Amber Anderson is the chairwoman for this year’s event.

“We’ll have agencies from Limestone, Madison and Morgan counties there to tell people what’s available,” said Anderson.

Anderson said the Resource Center at 406 S. Jefferson St., gets from 1,400 to 1,500 walk-in visits a year from people seeking services.

“This Fun Day Saturday at Swan Creek Park is free to the public,” said Anderson. “The only thing we ask is that those attending bring a canned item to donated to Limestone County Churches Involved food pantry.”

Swan Creek Park is located next to Athens High School.
