— During Tuesday’s Limestone County Board of Education meeting, Board President Bret McGill inquired about ongoing discussions with the Limestone County Commission to split the estimated $250,000 cost of adding 12 part-time school resource officers.

“Let’s move forward with a formal presentation with the County Commission for SROs,” said McGill. “We’ve presented a plan to pay half so let’s (allow) the commissioners to decide whether they want to support this, and then we can decide what to do next.”

Superintendent Dr. Tom Sisk has not addressed the commission publicly but has met with Commissioner Gary Daly and Chairman Stanley Menefee.

Sisk said he hopes to have the additional SROs available this August, and school principals have been asked to request their PTO presidents to contact their commissioners.
