— HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) — State Board of Education member Mary Scott Hunter of Huntsville says she's considering entering the Republican primary for governor next year.
Hunter told al.com (http://bit.ly/13HmWp6 ) that she enjoys her work on the board but some have asked her to consider the race for governor.
Republican Gov. Robert Bentley is seeking a second term, and he has primary opposition from former Morgan County Commissioner Stacy George.
Hunter has been an advocate for the Common Core standards for Alabama schools, while Bentley has opposed them.
She is an attorney and won election to the school board in 2010. Her district includes DeKalb, Etowah, Jackson, Limestone and Madison counties.
