Several injured in Saturday, Monday crashes

— Three people were injured Monday afternoon in a two-car crash at the intersection of Sweet Springs and Mooresville roads outside of Ardmore.

The Ardmore Fire Department responded to the call at approximately 12:56 p.m. MedFlight was called in and transported one patient from the scene.

Names and conditions of those involved in the crash were not available prior to press time.

Two crashes were reported Saturday on Interstate 65, one of which injured five members of a Louisville, Ky., family. The Clark family was traveling in the northbound lanes of I-65 at 5:55 p.m. when state troopers said the family’s 2002 Chevrolet sport utility vehicle crashed near the Huntsville-Browns Ferry Road exit.

State troopers identified the driver as Leah Clark, 42, and the passengers as Michael Clark, 44, Brittany Clark, 17, Jackson Clark, 16, and Brooklyn Clark, 6. Troopers also said Leah, Michael and Jackson were wearing seat belts, but Brooklyn and Brittany were not.

According to published media reports, one person was ejected from the vehicle and other family members were entrapped. First responders used the Jaws of Life to free them. MedFlight transported one victim to Huntsville Hospital, and ambulances took the other four.

On Saturday morning, two Limestone County women were injured when a 2003 Ford driven by 21-year-old Karla Lopez crashed on I-65, about 11 miles south of Athens.

Troopers said Lopez and her passenger, 21-year-old Carmen Romero, were wearing seat belts.
