Two arrested for drugs in car; child also inside

— Police responding to a passerby’s report of people in a car in the Wal-Mart parking lot using drugs led to the arrest Tuesday of two Limestone County residents and the discovery of a 4-year-old child in the vehicle.

According to police, when Officers Kelly Fussell and Jimmy Rogers were talking with the occupants, they noticed a strong smell of marijuana coming from the car.

Inside, the officers saw the child and found marijuana, a small plastic bag with white power, diazepam, hydrocodone, suboxone strips and drug paraphernalia.

Brandon Joseph Burdge, 32, of 28266 West Limestone Schoolhouse Road, Lester, and Jennifer Griggs, 29, of 19349 Lydia Corey Road, Athens,

were charged with possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and chemical endangerment of a child.

They were booked at the police department and transported to the county jail.
