— A jury found Thomas Brian Smoak, the man accused of bringing a shotgun onto the campus of Athens High School in 2010, guilty Thursday.

District Attorney Brian C.T. Jones said everyone in the courtroom of the Limestone County Courthouse was respectful as the judge read out a guilty verdict on one count of making a terrorist threat, and another guilty verdict on one count of possession of a firearm on school grounds with intent to do bodily harm.

The two-days proceedings ended Wednesday with the prosecution and defense resting their cases. After closing arguments, jury deliberations lasted all Thursday morning, with the verdict announcement coming in after 2 p.m.
