Drug bust yields 'high-grade marijuana'

— An Athens man has been released on $26,000 bond after being charged with trafficking in marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Limestone County Sheriff Mike Blakely said Saturday that Danny Ray Smith, 31, of 15849 Oneal Road  was arrested Thursday night following a bust that yielded “a marijuana grow operation and 5 and a half pounds of high-grade marijuana, $22,700 cash, two long guns, bulletproof vest and drug paraphernalia.”

Blakely said Limestone officers were assisted in the arrest by drug units from Madison and Morgan counties.
