Two killed in apparent murder-suicide Sunday


_ — Limestone County authorities are investigating an apparent murder-suicide that took place early Sunday morning on Huntsville-Brownsferry Road.

According to Sheriff Mike Blakely, the sheriff’s office received a call at approximately 1:21 a.m. concerning a shooting that had taken place at the residence.

The report stated that a white male had forced open the back door of a mobile home and shot the male occupant, later identified as Clint Roberts, at the residence.

When sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene, they discovered Roberts on the bedroom floor with multiple gunshot wounds to the head.

A female witness stated that she and the victim were in bed when they heard the door being kicked open.

According to the witness, the victim got of bed and was met at the doorway of the bedroom by the offender. He was shot, fell to floor and then shot again.

The offender left the scene.

According to reports, while investigators were working the scene, a second call came into the Sheriff’s Office concerning a wreck that had taken place on Snake Road.

When responders arrived on the scene, they discovered a white male, with a gunshot wound to the head in a wrecked Suburban. The man was identified as Terence Gilbert.

As the investigation continued, authorities learned that the victim of the wreck was acquainted with the ex-wife of Roberts.

Gilbert met the description given by the witness.

The related events are still under investigation by the Limestone County Sheriff’s Department. The bodies have been sent to the forensic science lab in Huntsville for autopsy.
