Local contractor awarded pair of LCWSA projects

— The Limestone County Water and Sewer Authority board unanimously accepted two bids from a local contractor for a pair of projects totaling nearly $1.8 million.

Christopher Professional Enterprises of Athens submitted a low bid of $1.2 million to build the Wells Road Trunk Sewer from the intersection of Wells and Nick Davis roads to new Jones Road. CPE also turned in a low bid of $576,465 for construction of the Jones Road Pump Station.

LCWSA Engineer Alton Hethcoat said the trunk sewer, also known as the Johnson D Project, attracted plan requests from 14 companies and eight submitted bids, which caused the bids to come in $300,000 under the estimated budget.

The pump station had a $906,000 estimated budget. The project drew 15 plan requests from contractors, and 10 submitted bids.
