Athens City Planner Mac Martin has scheduled a series of public input workshops regarding planning the city’s future growth.
The plan is called, “A Vision for Athens: A Future Land Use and Development Plan.”
About 460 people who live or work in the city recently filled out surveys regarding development, city services and funding priorities. One survey question asked participants to prioritize spending in regards to public safety, recreation and education. Other questions asked what type of commercial, industrial and residential development participants wanted to see in Athens.
“Our goal is to draft a plan that will incorporate the cumulative vision of our citizens and promote harmonious development and a high quality of life,” Martin said.
