Elkmont couple busted for meth

An Elkmont couple landed in Limestone County jail Monday night after they were discovered allegedly making meth in the parking lot of an Athens pharmacy.

Edward Ronald Jones, 25, of 17947 Butchers Way, and Courtney Dane Rodgers, 22, of 28120 Mooresville Road, face one count each of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of precursors to manufacturing.

Limestone County Sheriff’s Office narcotics investigators had been looking into complaints against the couple making meth, said Capt. Stanley McNatt.

Officers observed surveillance footage of the two spending extended periods of time in a Jeep in the parking lot of a pharmacy off U.S. 31 in Athens, McNatt said.

While executing a search of the Jeep, investigators found a soft drink bottle with a coffee filter inside, as well as a pharmacy bag on the floorboard, McNatt said.

“A further search of the vehicle revealed other items used to manufacture meth,” he said.

Jones and Rodgers remained in Limestone County Jail Tuesday with bond set at $11,000 each.
