— The National Weather Service in Huntsville Tuesday confirmed at least one tornado hit DeKalb County on Monday, but no tornado surveys are expected to be conducted here.

The EF-2 tornado touched down in the Kilpatrick community of DeKalb, and surveys are also being conducted in Marshall County after the storms caused significant damage to homes and businesses in northeast Alabama.

The storms damaged buildings in Fort Payne and on Lookout Mountain. Some of the worst damage in that area was reported near Fort Payne High School and the Heil manufacturing plant, authorities said. Emergency vehicles responded to the manufacturing plant, but no serious injuries were reported, authorities said.
