Jurors in the sexual abuse trial of Barry Gant, 49, of Athens, are about to being deliberations.
Testimony in the case began Monday and ended before noon today. After lunch, jurors heard closing arguments from the defense attorney William Clark of Birmingham and Limestone County District Attorney Brian Jones. Circuit Judge Robert Baker began instructing the jury shortly thereafter.
Gant is charged with two counts of sexual abuse of a child under age 12, Class B felonies. He is accused of sexually touching and performing oral sex on a 5-year-old girl and her 2-year-old sister while staying overnight at the home of a friend on Jan. 2 and 3, 2009.
