Huntsville abortion protester found not guilty of harassment

Associated Press

— HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) — A judge has found an anti-abortion rights demonstrator not guilty of spraying holy water at pro-abortion rights protesters outside a Huntsville clinic.

Supporters of 71-year-old Joyce Fectau applauded — and some began crying — when Municipal Judge Cybil Cleveland announced a not guilty verdict Friday. Fectau was charged with harassment.

Despite the verdict Pamela Watters, head of the clinic's volunteer program, says the judge's decision still feels like a win for the center.

Watters tells WAFF-TV ( ) relations between protesters have been much more peaceful since the late-December incident because demonstrators on both sides know clinic employees won't hesitate to call police if things get out of hand.
