UPDATE: Athens woman killed in crash at Alabama 99, Easter Ferry

— An Athens woman — 48-year-old Yolanda Martinez — was killed Tuesday night in a two-car crash at the intersection of Alabama 99 and Easter Ferry Road.

The crash happened about 7 p.m.about three miles north of Athens.

Limestone County Coroner Mike West confirmed the death and said the cause of the wreck appeared to be a driver running a stop sign at the intersection.

The driver of the other vehicle, Tony Scott, 48, of Elkmont, was not injured.

Martinez was driving a 2001 Nissan and Scott was driving a 1998 Ford, according to state troopers.
