Victims of a wreck near Calhoun recovering

The News Courier

— Four people injured in a one-vehicle wreck Tuesday night near Calhoun Community College are recovering today, though two remain in an area hospital.

The driver of the vehicle, T-rica Vonshay Emerson, 21, returned home early Wednesday.

Emerson’s sister, Tenesh Bell, 17, and another passenger, Shalah Bates, remained in Huntsville Hospital’s intensive-care unit. A fourth passenger, Shadeed Fuqua, 22, was not hospitalized.

Emerson was southbound on U.S. 31 when she lost control and wrecked.

Witnesses told Decatur Police Emerson’s vehicle and another vehicle were swerving in and out with each other when Emerson lost control and her vehicle crossed the median, struck raised pavement while entering the northbound traffic lanes, began to overturn, struck a ditch east of 31 and came to rest upright in a field north of the Calhoun campus.

The Limestone County Sheriff’s Department will investigate the incident, which occurred outside of Decatur’s jurisdiction.
