Quick action stops burglars

— A Limestone County Sheriff’s lieutenant captured two people allegedly breaking into a home off Alabama 127 Tuesday night, an official said.

After receiving notice about a possible burglary, Lt. Guy Simmons arrived at the home around 8:30 p.m. and found  Mark Lewis Scott, 40, of 256 Pleasant Hill Road, Prospect, Tenn., and Tina Perkins Scott, 44, of 22339 New Garden Road, Elkmont, said Lt. Jay Stinnett.

The Scotts were arrested on charges of third-degree burglary, records show.

They were also charged with possession of a controlled substance, second-degree possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, after Simmons found marijuana plants in their trunk, and a jailer found Tina in possession of a pill at the jail, Stinnett said.
