A surveillance video from a local store led Athens Police to the man accused of stealing a vehicle from the parking lot.
Police received a call May 8 from a woman who said her vehicle was stolen from the Wal-Mart parking lot, Chief Floyd Johnson said.
The owner told police she had parked it in the store’s lot when she went to work. When she returned, the vehicle was gone.
Investigator Bret Constable worked with Wal-Mart’s staff, and investigators with the Decatur Police Department were able to identify a suspect from the store's video system, Johnson said.
Constable obtained an arrest warrant for Kestalis Antwion Driggers for first-degree theft. A day later, officers arrested Driggers, 23, of 413 12th Ave. S.W., Decatur, Johnson said. He was booked at the Police Department and transferred to the Limestone County Jail, where bail was set at $5,000.
