Lots to do this week in Limestone County

— As the summer winds down, there’s no reason to sit and wonder, “What’s to do?” The coming week holds a variety of activities for both young and old.

Ardmore Police Reserve Rodeo

Friday and Saturday is the time for bucking broncs, calf roping, barrel racing and much more at the Ardmore Police Reserve Rodeo at the Ardmore, Tenn., John Barnes Park.

Chances on saddle tickets are $3. Annual Ardmore Rodeo T-Shirts are available at $10 in sizes youth to extra large, and $12 for 2XL-3XL.

Advanced rodeo tickets are available at Ardmore Police Department; Adams Western Wear in Ardmore; Preston Western Wear in Athens; Roy & Rogers in Fayetteville, Tenn.; First National Bank in Ardmore, and Peoples State Bank of Commerce in Ardmore. Prices are $8 for ages 6-12, and $10 for ages 13 and up.

Piney Chapel American Farm Heritage Days

The much anticipated Piney Chapel American Farm Heritage Days will be Friday and Saturday. Events feature an Antique Tractor ride on Friday on the Rails to Trails, Hays Mill to Elkmont.  Contact 256-431-6226, 256-431-0619, or 256-431-12316

Alabama Veterans Museum Coffee Call

Veterans and spouses are welcome to come to the monthly Alabama Veterans Museum and Archives Coffee Call at 8 a.m. Saturday. All veterans are invited to the museum for breakfast and a time of fellowship with fellow veterans. Contact 256-771-7578.

Free Fishing Rodeo

Limestone County Sportsman’s Club Free Annual Kids Fishing Rodeo will begin with registration at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at the club’s pond on Kennedy Road, just north of the intersection of Oakdale and Pepper roads. Prizes will be given to each age group 4-8; 9-11; and 12-15, for largest fish, smallest fish and weight. Lunch will be served. Call Michael Hardy at 256-431-7734 for more information.
