Police: Restaurant manager took bank deposit

ATHENS — Athens Police arrested a fast-food employee on theft charges Monday because he allegedly kept the restaurant’s bank deposit.

A press release from the department said Lee Howard Jr., 27, of 201 Watermill Road, Apt. B-17, Madison, was working as the manager of Hardee’s on South Jefferson Street. On Feb. 23, the release said, Howard took $2,263 instead of depositing it at the bank.

Following an investigation led by Investigator Tim McIntire, Howard was arrested on charges of second-degree theft. After being booked at the Police Department, he was transferred to the Limestone County Jail, where bail was set at $2,500.
