Alabama 99 wreck injures Athens driver

ELKMONT — An Athens man was injured Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Alabama 99 and Elm Street.

According to state troopers, Michael Eaton, 50, of Athens was taken to the hospital after his 1995 Chevrolet collided with a semitrailer at approximately 6:45 a.m. Troopers said Eaton was wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the truck, Thomas Blankenship, 45, of Elkmont, was not injured.

Limestone County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the call to assist in controlling traffic.
