Athens woman killed in pedestrian accident on 251

— A pedestrian from Athens was killed Monday night in Limestone County after being struck by a vehicle on Alabama 251.

The crash occurred at approximately 9:32 p.m., seven miles north of Athens, state troopers said.

Wanda L. McKelvey, 47, of Athens, was hit and killed by  a 2007 Mazda driven by Edward Alexander Szabo, 42, of Satsuma. 

McKelvey was pronounced dead at the scene.

Szabo was not injured.

Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
