The funeral service for the son of a Limestone County principal will be Monday after Wednesday's fatal motorcycle accident in Huntsville.
The service for Dedrick Montrel Miller, 40, of Madison will be held at Mt. Zion Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America at 3726 Pryor Road in Madison. He is the son of Owens Elementary Principal Cleo Miller, who was named the school system’s top elementary administrator for 2012-13.
Miller died Wednesday afternoon near Huntsville International Airport. Huntsville Police said Miller’s motorcycle ran off the road and crashed into trees at the intersection of Glenn Heard Boulevard and James Record Road.
Madison County Coroner Craig Whisenant pronounced Miller dead at the scene at 3:45 p.m. from blunt-force trauma. Authorities said no other vehicles were involved in the accident.
Miller worked as a guest services representative at Four Points by Sheraton Huntsville Airport. Janet Majors, a Sheraton assistant manager, said on Friday that he was a 22-year employee at the hotel.
“He was an absolutely wonderful person,” Majors said. “He touched so many lives here, and the whole airport (community) is devastated.”
Miller is the son of John and Cleo Miller of Huntsville. Survivors include his sister, Felicia; brother, Jacquese; and nephew, Ian.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Royal Funeral Home at 4315 Oakwood Ave. NW in Huntsville. Public viewing is from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday and 8:30-10:15 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
